KAHO (Floral Treasure) is an exquisite vintage black silk haori (Kuro-haori) featuring a beautifully lustrous, deep black rinzu (jacquard) base with a subtle woven under-pattern. Sourced directly from Japan and dating back to the mid-Showa period (circa 1950s–1960s), this piece is a magnificent example of post-war textile luxury, which saw black decorated haori become the height of elegant formal fashion in Japan.
The lower front panels showcase a masterfully rendered, highly detailed Nishiki (brocade) weaving and fine gold-thread embroidery depicting traditional Goshoguruma (imperial court carriages) surrounded by a wealth of autumn blossoms. The name Kaho, meaning “Floral Treasure,” perfectly celebrates the rich, metallic jewel-box quality of these embroidered botanical crests. Its stately and refined exterior is complemented by a soft, contrasting cream silk lining decorated with pastel geometric abstractions and traditional paper-craft folding motifs. Sleek yet rich in historic detail, this haori offers a highly artistic and sophisticated layer to both modern and traditional ensembles.
