Kinsen 金扇 / Golden Fan
Kinsen is an elegant vintage silk haori in deep black, adorned with delicate folding fans, seasonal flowers, and graceful botanical motifs in shimmering shades of gold, ivory, red, and soft green. The refined decoration flows vertically across the dark silk, creating a beautiful sense of movement and balance.
The name Kinsen, meaning “Golden Fan,” is inspired by the traditional Japanese folding fans that appear throughout the design. In Japanese decorative arts, the sensu (folding fan) is considered an auspicious motif: its shape widens as it opens, symbolizing prosperity, growth, and an expanding future.
Touches of gold illuminate the intricate floral details against the black background, giving the piece a sophisticated and quietly luxurious character.
With its flowing silhouette and exquisite traditional motifs, this one-of-a-kind haori embodies the refined beauty of vintage Japanese craftsmanship while bringing timeless elegance to contemporary styling.
Estimated Era: Showa period, circa 1960s–1970s
Material: 100% Silk
Condition: Excellent vintage condition. There are no notable flaws.
As with all vintage garments, subtle signs of wear or variation may be present and are part of its unique character.
