SHION 紫苑 / Mauve & Deep Emerald
Capture the poetic element of sensory surprise with "Shion" (Mauve & Deep Emerald), an authentic antique Nagahaori (extra-long jacket) sourced directly from Japan. Dating back to the Taisho to early Showa era (circa 1920s–1930s), this rare masterpiece beautifully embodies the Taisho Roman movement—a historic golden age defined by a daring fusion of traditional craftsmanship and avant-garde, graphic styling.
Shion is a striking vintage silk haori featuring a rich mauve background with bold shibori patterns in deep emerald green. The dramatic contrast of colors and the organic movement of the design give this piece a distinctive, artistic character. The name Shion, inspired by the elegant Japanese aster flower, perfectly reflects the beautiful harmony of its two defining colors, offsetting the deep green jewel tones against an elegant, dusty purple-pink base.
True to the historic concept of iki—the Japanese art of hidden refinement—"Shion" conceals its sweetest treasure inside. When slipped open, the lining reveals a whimsical, nostalgic cream landscape filled with traditional elements and butterfly accents. Expressive yet elegant, this haori brings the artistry of traditional Japanese textiles into contemporary styling, making it a unique piece of wearable art with its fluid drape and classic longline silhouette.
